​We provide a wide range of programs for children, and incarcerated parents. Please see Parent ​or Caregiver page for more information. 

Motherly Intercession is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization in Flint and Genesee County Michigan. Your donation at any level will help to "Unlock the Future" for the young, innocent children whose lives has been negatively impacted by their mother or father's incarceration.  Please help Motherly Intercession to "Turn the Key" to a bright future for these children.

​INTERCESSION'S PROGRAMS

Current Programs

Children Services

​Motherly Intercession's main priority are the children of incarcerated parents. There are a number of programs for the children to part take in. ​
  • Reading and Counting to Success Plus (RACS+) - Provides afterschool homework assistance, tutoring in reading, writing, and math. We also provide a Summer Day Camp with academic support, and field trips during the Summer months.
  • N-Touch Ready 4 Real Life - The N-Touch program is for youth ages 13 and older who meet twice a month to discuss Job skills, Adulting (Life Skills), Schooling (Education), and Health. Youth have the option of a 4-week program where Peckham, Inc. expands on the skills and experiences that are being taught in our N-Touch program. This program features being paired with a mentor, incentive such as gift cards, and hands on learning.
  • Social worker on site at all times to help assist with emotional aspects of their lives
  • A chance to connect with other children in their situation
  • ​Healthcare Enrollment - Referrals and assistance with enrollment for healthcare coverage through the Genesee Health Plan for incarcerated people and their families.
Parents Services In The​Genesee ​County Jail

​Motherly Intercession provides multiple services to parents that are incarcerated. ​
  • Bonding from a distance children's visitation (B-FAD) - Preserving the family structure by providing children with bi-monthly (every 1st & 3rd Saturday of the month) face-to-face visitation with their mother in the Genesee County Jail.
  • Parenting While Incarcerated  - Weekly parenting and support group session for incarcerated mothers & fathers in the Genesee County Jail. These weekly sessions help parents reduce incarceration related STRESS and develop behaviors to become better parents.​
  • ​Healthcare Enrollment - Referrals and assistance with enrollment for healthcare coverage through the Genesee Health Plan for incarcerated people and their families.
Caregivers / Parents Services

Motherly Intercession's SIF is an Empirically Validated program that provide multiple program components and services designed to empower male and female adults with the tools they need to reduce incarceration related STRESS and build the resiliency they need to meet the daily challenges in their lives. 
  • Strengthening Incarcerated Families - Is a weekly parenting classes designed to empower adults with the tools they need to reduce incarceration related STRESS and build the resiliency they need to meet the daily challenges in their lives.
  • 24/7 Dads Key Behaviors Workshop - ​Is a 8 hour workshop given over two days that helps fathers develop a set of behaviors that will help them become the best fathers possible.
  • Social Worker -  To provide case management, referrals, and other assistance and support
  • Networking - Opportunity to connect with other adults who are dealing with incarceration
  • ​Healthcare Enrollment - Referrals and assistance with enrollment for healthcare coverage through the Genesee Health Plan for incarcerated people and their families.

Summary

After School Program

​During the school year children are given a place to go two times a week after school.  The program currently has 50 children, but is hoping to expand very soon. The program is split into two groups of 25 children. There are tutors available to tutor the children, meals and van transportation are provided.

Summer Camp Program

​Summer Day Camp is provided for children during the out of school time.  The summer camp focuses on academics in the morning, and also creates team building activities to help the children grow. Field trips and "fun days" are a significant part of the summer curriculum.

N-Touch Ready to Work and Job and Life Skills Program

The N-Touch program is for youth (13 and older) who are currently in the program, or have been through the program. These youth meet twice a month to discuss job and life skills, building a resume, how to communicate, how to perform a strong hand shake, interpersonal skills, etc. This program also provides academic support to improve their grades, and maintain good grades, in order to stay "employed" with the program. The students have the opportunity to apply for a Peer Mentor staff position, to work with the RACS+ children.
